Jerry Ward got started in stained glass when he quit smoking cigarettes as a hobby to keep busy and quickly started a passion for glass making .
He was soon interested in Flame worked Glass and pursued finding ways to further his knowledge. Jerry took a class with his mentor (Paul Stankard) online to further his knowledge and studied other artists. After making his first Rose he received a call from his mentor congratulating him on making “The best Rose he had seen in 50 years”.
Jerry uses an oxygen propane torch to make my roses and anneals them in a kiln.

Jerry sells his roses online through Etsy and through his Facebook shop.

White Gate Farm is located in Southeastern Connecticut. They sell organic produce, poultry, eggs, bread at their farm stand, its also a pleasant area to walk and visit the chickens, baby chicks, turkeys and sheep. The family can enjoy feeding the baby turkeys carrot tops provided by the owner of the farm. It’s a friendly atmosphere. I’m hard to buy for. Whenever Christmas or my birthday comes around nobody knows what to get, and if asked I’m usually not much help with providing ideas. However, I do enjoy locally made and/or unique items.

This Christmas, my wife had a cool idea and put together a locally made gift basket with a number of locally made food items. I wish I took a picture of the basket when it was put together, but creating a blog was not on my mind at the time. One of the items in the basket was a jug of maple syrup from Sugar Maple Farms in Lebanon Connecticut. I’m enjoying this syrup, including a pint of this in a locally made gift basket would not disappoint.
